Auburn Opens Cooling Center

Stay Cool & Stay Safe, Auburn! Summer temperatures are climbing this week, and with some very hot weather in the forecast, the City of Auburn is opening a COOLING CENTER to help keep our community safe and comfortable.

The Cooling Center will be at the Auburn Senior Community Center at 48 Pettengill Park Road (on the Auburn Recreation campus). It will be open Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. If you need a break from the heat, please stop in and stay a while. We’ll have bottled water available — and you’re welcome to bring a book, crafts, or quiet activities to help pass the time.

You can also stay cool at other community spaces:
Auburn Public Library — Open Wednesday & Thursday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
The Drop-In Center (121 Mill Street) — Open Wednesday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Alter L-A Shelter (70 Horton Street) — Open 24/7

Please remember: Extreme heat can be dangerous. Be sure to stay hydrated, take breaks from the sun, and check in on neighbors, friends, and loved ones — especially older adults and those without reliable cooling.

We’re here for you, Auburn. Let’s take care of each other and stay safe together. 💛
