Telling the story of Auburn
Our communications professionals develop and maintain community and media relations and present municipal information to the public. Using a variety of multimedia outlets, our team works to develop and implement strategies that positively promote civic engagement, internal communication and municipal transparency through the delivery of accurate, consistent and timely information about the City of Auburn.
Communications & Community Engagement is a full-service municipal department, providing strategic and tactical communication solutions for citywide and department-level initiatives.
The Communications & Community Engagement Department manages:
- City websites: auburnmaine.gov, goauburn.me, auburnlobsterfestival.com, auburnblues.com, newyearsauburn.com, and more.
- "Absolutely Auburn," the official podcast of the City of Auburn, Maine
- Auburn's social media presence
- Auburn's Signature Events: New Year's Auburn, the Auburn Lobster Festival & the Auburn Blues + Brews Festival
- Data analytics and visualization
- ESRI mapping, hub initiatives, StoryMaps, and more
- Accreditation coordination and maintenance for the Auburn Public Works Department
- Auburn's community outreach and special events
- Media relations
- The City's "Alert Me" email and text subscription service
- Emergency response and notifications
- Ribbon cutting/grand opening events
- Special event planning & so much more
Other roles and responsibilities include newsletters, publications, press releases, speeches, signs, videos, and support of all other city departments. In addition, CCE provides public relations support and media relations counsel to the Mayor, City Council, and City Manager's Office.
Serving as the vital link between local government and the people of Auburn, our goal is to effectively communicate and promote Auburn government policies and programs.
