The Lewiston-Auburn Communications Center is the first and ONLY nationally-accredited communications center in Maine! Our agency was first accredited in 2009, and we proudly achieved reaccreditation in 2012, 2015, 2018 and 2022.
L-A 911 is accredited through CALEA - the Commission on Law Enforcement Accreditation. CALEA's Public Safety Communications Accreditation Program provides a communications center with a process to systemically review and internally assess its operations and procedures.
This program requires organizations to collect and analyze important data for the purpose of making sound operational and administrative business decisions, creating leadership and practitioner-accountability. In addition, the focus is on quality assurance, interoperability, emerging technologies, risk analysis, asset security, resources access, contemporary training, and a range of other operational functions.
