City of Auburn - 2023 Personal Property Reporting
Did you know that in Maine, businesses are required to report their tangible business assets (personal property) to the local assessor? It’s true, and with the business personal property filing season just around the corner we hope to reach new and existing business owners to assist them with their filing.
The good news is that filing a return allows a business to take advantage available exemptions and/or refund programs, possibly reducing your tax to as low as zero dollars. That is why it is so important to file a return because if a business does not file, it cannot take advantage of these relief programs.
If you are a business owner and have questions about how to file, you can contact our office. We are happy to schedule an appointment to assist you with your filing. Please also contact us to update your business details or report a new or closed business.
The City of Auburn Assessing Division conducts a business canvas each year. Our goal is to identify businesses and to assist owners with their yearly filing (due on April 17, 2023). You may see one of the Assessing staff around town or at your business location in February or early March. We hope to see or hear from you!
