Law Enforcement Cadet Program

The Auburn Police Department is exceptionally proud of our Law Enforcement Cadet Program.

Our cadet program is an exciting opportunity for area youths to explore a career in law enforcement, learn to help others, serve their community, develop leadership skills, build physical & mental fitness, gain career and personal skills, and have fun!

This is a career-oriented program that gives young adults the opportunity to explore a career in law enforcement by working with local law enforcement agencies. The program is generally available to qualified young adults of high moral character who have graduated 8th grade and are between the ages 14 and 21.

The cadet program focuses on:

• Career opportunities
• Life skills
• Citizenship & Community Involvement
• Character Education and
• Leadership Experience

Current activities/trainings include:

• Monthly administrative and training meetings
• Patrol “ride-alongs”
• Community Service
• Community Events
• Honor Guard
• Radio procedure (how to properly use police radios)
• Traffic stops (how to perform traffic stops)
• Building searches (how to search structures for people or evidence)
• Active shooter scenarios
• Crime scene investigations
• Report writing (paperwork)
• "Camp Mudbucket" - team-building retreat weekend at the National Guard's Bog Brook training facility
