A message to the Citizens of Auburn

A Message to the Citizens of Auburn:

We are aware of the public concern related to the potential spread of the Ebola Virus. We share that concern, and while we cannot control national events, the City of Auburn is working (across all city departments) to ensure that we protect our citizens and employees. We are prepared to identify potential cases and provide the appropriate response if/when they may present.

At this point, there have been no reported cases. While we certainly hope that remains the case, we are working together to make certain that 9-1-1, first responders and school officials have protocols in place for identification of symptoms and risk factors for the potential diagnosis of Ebola. Our protocols are designed to ensure swift, immediate isolation of the person, and direct contact with state health officials for assistance. We are training of our staff to ensure that we minimize any potential exposure.

Our objective is to get it right if a case should present itself, and to reassure our citizens and staff that their safety is of critical importance.

There is no greater priority than the safety and security of our community, and our goal is to ensure a swift and medically-appropriate response should this horrible virus make its way to Auburn.
